Colombia’s Osorio revels in fervent PH Women’s Open atmosphere: ‘I feel like I’m home’

MANILA, Philippines – Colombia’s Camila Osorio did not mind the cheers even if they were not for her as she battled home hero Alex Eala in the quarterfinals of the Philippine Women’s Open.

If anything, they reminded Osorio of home.

Osorio reveled in the fervent atmosphere of the country’s first-ever hosting of a WTA 125 event after giving Eala the boot with a resounding 6-4, 6-4 win at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center on Thursday, January 29, to advance to the semifinals.

“We’re very passionate when it comes to supporting our people. I love to play back home. I love to play in Colombia because the energy is crazy. I just really enjoy it. And that’s why I think it’s very similar to this, that’s why I feel it’s very nice to see you guys support Alex,” said Osorio.

“I hope I also can go back to Colombia and play in front of my people because I enjoy it. I got my family, my friends. Everyone is there. It’s nice. It’s just so similar, like everything. You go outside and you guys are always like friendly.”

“It’s really close, like in Colombia. I feel like I’m home.”

Osorio dashed Filipinos’ hopes of seeing an Eala coronation at home as the world No. 84 Colombian battled back from 2-3 deficits in both the first and second sets to arrange a final four date with Argentina’s Solana Sierra.

Having won all of her three WTA Tour crowns at home in the Copa Colsanitas, Osorio seeks to get the job done on foreign soil.

“It would be really nice if I can get a title outside of Colombia,” said Osorio.

A first-timer in the country, Osorio only had good things to say about the staging of the Philippine Women’s Open, even going as far as guaranteeing her return in the next editions.

“I feel very welcome here. Since the first day you get here and they’re like, ‘Whatever you need, you can get,’ basically. You just get here and you feel very welcome, very warm, and everything. The facility is very nice. The hotel is very nice. The food is also unreal,” said Osorio.

“It’s like a bigger tournament, if I’m being honest. I could come here and say lies, but I’m being completely honest with you. So, it’s very nice,” she added. “If they can make it a bigger tournament, I will come 100%.” – Rappler.com

Shibarium May No Longer Turbocharge Shiba Inu Price Rally, Here’s Reason

The post Shibarium May No Longer Turbocharge Shiba Inu Price Rally, Here’s Reason appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Shibarium, the layer-2 blockchain of the Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystem, is battling to stay active. Shibarium has slipped from hitting transaction milestones to struggling to record any transactions on its platform, a development that could severely impact SHIB. Shibarium transactions crash from millions to near zero As per Shibariumscan data, the total daily transactions on Shibarium as of Sept. 16 stood at 11,600. This volume of transactions reflects how low the transaction count has dropped for the L2, whose daily average ranged between 3.5 million and 4 million last month. However, in the last week of August, daily transaction volume on Shibarium lost momentum, slipping from 1.3 million to 9,590 as of Aug. 28. This pattern has lingered for much of September, with the highest peak so far being on Sept. 5, when it posted 1.26 million transactions. The low user engagement has greatly affected the transaction count in recent days. In addition, the security breach over the weekend by malicious attackers on Shibarium has probably worsened issues. Although developer Kaal Dhairya reassured the community that the attack to steal millions of BONE tokens was successfully prevented, users’ confidence appears shaken. This has also impacted the price outlook for Shiba Inu, the ecosystem’s native token. Following reports of the malicious attack on Shibarium, SHIB dipped immediately into the red zone. Unlike on previous occasions where investors accumulated on the dip, market participants did not flock to Shiba Inu. Shiba Inu price struggles, can burn mechanism help? With the current near-zero crash in transaction volume for Shibarium, SHIB’s price cannot depend on it to support a rally. It might take a while to rebuild user confidence and for transactions to pick up again. In the meantime, Shiba Inu might have to rely on other means to boost prices from its low levels. This…
