Trump's expensive effort to smear key GOP campaigns in Indiana is failing: report

President Donald Trump launched a multimillion-dollar "revenge campaign" against Indiana Republican state senators who blocked his redistricting efforts last year, but early signs suggest the effort is failing.

Ahead of Indiana's primary election, Trump sought to redraw Indiana's congressional map to benefit the GOP, similar to his success in Texas, but faced stiff opposition from eight state senators.

The campaign officially kicked off on Wednesday with Turning Point USA organizing a rally for a Trump-backed challenger to state Republican Senator Greg Good, who was placed on Trump's "revenge list," according to the Indiana Capital Chronicle. The event, complete with lawn signs, fliers, and a "Trump Rally" Spotify playlist at a riverside amphitheater, drew only four attendees — three from the same family — according to NOTUS.

Seven of the eight defiant senators face Trump-backed challengers in Tuesday's primary.

GOP adviser Marc Short criticized the retribution effort as wasteful, stating it represents "a lot of carnage for very low return" driven purely by loyalty demands rather than ideology.
