PANews reported on March 19th that Visa Crypto Labs, Visa's encryption division, has launched a command-line interface tool that allows AI agents to make secure, programmatic payments directly from the terminal. This tool provides "programmatic card payments without the pain points of API keys," enabling users to provide payment network services for bots, scripts, and other automated coding workflows without managing API keys or requiring human interaction. The tool is currently released in beta, and users need to register with a GitHub account. Visa stated that as the capabilities of AI agents increase, the payment infrastructure supporting them must also evolve to enable "command-line commerce."
