Securitize and VanEck have expanded the use of tokenized Treasuries by integrating VanEck’s VBILL fund into Aave’s Horizon platform. The integration allows VBILL, a tokenized Treasury fund, to be used as collateral for borrowing on Aave’s decentralized finance (DeFi) platform. This move provides new opportunities for institutions to access liquidity and utilize tokenized Treasuries in decentralized finance markets.
Securitize and VanEck’s collaboration brings VBILL onto Aave Horizon, a decentralized market for real-world assets (RWAs). With the integration, institutions can now use VBILL as collateral on Aave’s platform. The decision opens new avenues for accessing liquidity through tokenized Treasuries in DeFi markets.
The VBILL fund, managed by VanEck, holds short-term U.S. Treasury bills and related assets. This fund, launched earlier this year, now enables institutions to use tokenized Treasuries as active collateral. This integration marks a significant milestone for tokenized Treasuries, as it allows institutions to leverage DeFi’s efficiencies while maintaining the security and transparency of traditional Treasuries.
Aave Horizon uses Chainlink’s NAVLink oracle to ensure accurate pricing for VBILL. This integration provides transparent, real-time valuation of tokenized Treasuries, making them reliable for collateral usage. As a result, Aave’s platform can maintain consistent pricing of VBILL, ensuring stability and reducing the risk of inaccuracies in collateral valuation.
This pricing framework benefits institutions and users of Horizon by providing secure and accurate on-chain data for tokenized Treasuries. As part of the collaboration, Securitize’s Trusted Single Source Oracle (TSSO) technology will further enhance on-chain verification. This ensures that the tokenized assets used as collateral meet institutional standards and regulatory compliance.
The integration of VBILL into Aave Horizon highlights the growing intersection between traditional finance and decentralized finance. Tokenized Treasuries, like VBILL, provide a bridge between established financial assets and DeFi’s dynamic environment. By using these assets as collateral, institutions can tap into DeFi’s liquidity without sacrificing security or regulatory oversight.
This development also shows the increasing institutional adoption of tokenized Treasuries. As more financial products become tokenized and integrated into decentralized platforms, the market for tokenized assets is expected to expand rapidly. The move strengthens the role of tokenized Treasuries as essential components of the DeFi ecosystem, driving innovation in decentralized capital markets.
