Just days after ZHU released his ambitiously atmospheric new album BLACK MIDAS, the Grammy-nominated producer will now take the stage at Pacha New York in an announcement that expands the forthcoming nightclub’s opening lineup into an even more culturally diverse and global roster.
ZHU joining hands with Brooklyn’s soon-to-open Pacha spot represents the latest step for the iconic nightclub brand’s newest iteration. Since its start in Ibiza in the early ‘70s, Pacha has built its reputation not around any single genre, sound or style, but a commitment to what dance music looks like at its most expansive. With the addition of ZHU for the September 11 bill, the venue’s kickoff lineup is shaping up to offer an increasingly culturally intentional set of acts to hit the city.
Pacha New York opens over the weekend of June 20-21 with the two-night debut featuring a double header of British DJ-producer Michael Bibi on June 20 and legendary South African house pioneer Black Coffee on the 21st.
Before Pacha NY’s official kickoff, German house and techno star Rampa curates two pre-opening nights rooted in underground house. Afterward, the calendar stretches to include Masters at Work in June with New York house legends Louie Vega and Kenny Dope bringing the genre back to its home borough. June also features Pride Month events including a local iteration of Brazil’s beloved Guapo party on June 26 (with Brazilian DJs like Anne Louise, Adham, and Erik Vilar) and the official, 12-hour Planet Pride celebration on June 27 (featuring DJs like Don Diablo, Ty Sunderland, RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Athena Dion and Juicy Love Dion, and one “major surprise performer”).
Pacha New York’s current calendar extends into October, with upcoming bookings from Belgium’s Lost Frequencies, Brazil’s Vintage Culture, and Black Coffee, who appears four times.
Taken together, the programming spans Africa, Europe, North and South America, and the U.K. ZHU’s addition pushes it further still as a Chinese-American artist who has navigated the predominantly white landscape of mainstream EDM since his anonymous 2014 debut. Born Steven Zhu, the star recently told EDM.com, “What I am today is the bridge between the old generation and the new generation,” with a Pacha stop all the more perfect for his just-announced 2026 ON THE MOVE Tour.
Operated by global hospitality group FIVE, with more than 40 venues across Dubai, Ibiza and Zurich under its belt, Pacha’s curatorial ambition speaks to an increasingly diverse and globally aware dancefloor that welcomes everyone from internationally recognized producers to local favorites, drag performers, and everyone in between.
