The FLOKI token serves as the primary utility asset within the Floki ecosystem, operating as a multi-chain token on both the Ethereum (ERC-20) and BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) networks. Its economic model is designed to be perpetually deflationary through various buyback and burn mechanisms while providing utility across decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, and educational platforms.

Issuance and Supply Mechanism

FLOKI was launched on June 25, 2021, following a tweet by Elon Musk. The token has a fixed total supply, and its issuance is characterized by a community-centric approach with no ongoing inflationary minting.

Note: Approximately 0.678 trillion tokens on Ethereum are considered out of circulation.

Allocation and Unlocking Mechanism

The initial allocation of FLOKI was heavily weighted toward the community. Data indicates that 100% of the community allocation was vested at the Token Generation Event (TGE) on June 21, 2021, as a cliff unlock.

Usage and Incentive Mechanisms

FLOKI functions as a medium of exchange and a governance token within its ecosystem. Its primary utilities include:

• Medium of Exchange: Used to purchase prepaid gift cards via Floki Card and intended for use in the Valhalla NFT Metaverse to buy in-game items.
• Transaction Fees: A 0.3% tax is charged on every buy and sell transaction on decentralized exchanges (DEXs). These funds are directed to the Floki treasury for ecosystem development and marketing.
• Governance: Tokenholders can participate in the Floki DAO by voting on Snapshot proposals regarding ecosystem offerings and treasury allocations.
• Educational Utility: FLOKI is the main utility token for the University of Floki, where it is required to access certain premium functions.
• Deflationary Mechanisms: The token supply is reduced through several automatic buyback and burn protocols:
  • FlokiFi Locker: 25% of service fees are used to buy back and burn FLOKI.
  • Floki Card: 1% of top-up fees are dedicated to burning FLOKI.
  • Early Unstaking: Penalties for early withdrawal from staking are automatically burned.

Locking and Staking Mechanism

Floki features a robust staking program that incentivizes long-term holding by rewarding users with "TOKEN," the utility token of the TokenFi platform. As of late 2023 and early 2024, over 25% of the total FLOKI supply has been locked in this program.

Staking Durations and Rewards

Users can choose between four staking periods. Longer durations provide higher Annual Percentage Yields (APY) and higher reward multipliers.

Liquidity Locking

In addition to user staking, the project has locked its own liquidity on both the Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain networks for a duration of 265 years to ensure long-term protocol stability.
